  2. Maybe we can invite homeless bloggers from other wards to vote for you?

That method seems to work for Shiller!

  3. I would never support a blog full of evil condo owners. How dare you people expect that your political leaders serve with integrity. How dare you seek a safe clean hood for all!

  6. UU came in first for me.

Yes, Helen's site was a close second!

Where else can I learn about the proper disposing of an Xmas tree, how I can safely park for Cubs game driving in from Lake Forest, and gosh' darn' it, I need to shovel the snow in front of my shelter, I mean condo.

  7. This ain't your college campus, sweetie. The only place the Alderman has an informative web site is in heaven.

When you're busy meeting constituents at your office with a baseball bat, there isn't much time left to communicate effectively.

Thanks UU, for helping out the Alderman in reaching out and communicating with the community. I'm sure she'd thank you personally, given the chance.

  8. As a fellow 2008 Chicago Tribune "Best Blog," I nominate Uptown Update! Keep up the good work, guys. Being more humble than you all, I will not be campaigning for it myself.

  9. In fairness to UU, I put a little link in another thread to tell people about the Trib's efforts but it might have gotten lost there. I suppose I could have found some other way to spread the news to my fellow Uptowners but truth be told, Uptown Update is THE way to get the word out to neighbors. And that, my friend, is the point and the reason why this is an important blog in Chicagoland. But good luck to you too. You guys up there in Rogers Park are still the bloggiest!

  10. "Being more humble than you all, I will not be campaigning for it myself."

Does anyone else find the irony in calling yourself humble? That made me laugh a bit this morning. :)

  11. What would we all do without UU? Aside from definitely get more work done during the day, I'd have no idea what was going on in my own community.

This is the most useful blog I read, period. And while much that goes on in Uptown is negative (crime and politics), I love the fact that UU makes sure to cover the positive as well. The "where am I" posts are also great.

    Thanks Uptown Update!
