Spend New Year's Eve With 'Wild Pug'

  1. So the Pug has been open for a few weeks. What are folks' impressions of the crowd at the Pug? Gay, straight, or 50/50?

  2. Let's see . . . the Pug New Year's event features "name" DJ and VJs, and a "New Year's Baby Shot Boy."

Are those enough of a "hint" as to what minority group this bar caters to?

  3. Duh!!! Everyone knows who the owners are. I'm asking for personal experiences, not "hints." So have you been there or not?

  4. It's pretty mixed, but more a gay crowd the times I've been there.

  5. Less mixed than Crew, but seems to be mixed. I went there once and did enjoy myself. Lots of men.

  6. Depends on when you go, seems to be more gay later in the evening. Earlier on, around happy hour, it seems to be more mixed.

Sunday afternoons are definitely gay with the t dance.

  7. If I may suggest something, maybe you should try it for yourself and...(GASP!)...form your own opinion.

It's not like this is a leather bar, nor is it Hooters...it's an Americanized English Pub by well known and respected business men in the neighborhood who want to see the local business district and community thrive.

It is designed to serve a mixed crowd and provide them a fresh alternative to the standard bar fare of both gay and straight communities. IE, a place where people can mix and mingle with each other, meet new friends, and have a good time, regardless of the label society has placed on them.

If you're interested in what it's like...then stop in for a drink and see for yourself.

If you are put off by the fact that there will be happy homos and heteros mixing together and having a great time in the process...then it's probably not the place for you.

  8. Easy there Rubber, I have been there. Am I not allowed to ask what other people think?

I was there this past Saturday night. It was certainly heavily weighted to the gay crowd. Given a choice, I personally would go to Fat Cat, and my g/f and I did.

That being said, I'll go back, because I want to see how it is at different times of day. I have no plans on judging the place on one visit. Cool?

  9. Sounds to me like Pug is a gay bar that (mistakenly) thinks it might be able to attract a straight crowd in the long run.

Not likely with Fat Cat and Green Mill nearby.

There's potential good business for Fiesta Mexicana, however, which is sandwiched between Crew and Pug.

  10. Fat Cat and Wild Pug are working in conjunction with one another. I don't see why their crowds wouldn't mix.

  11. Their crowds DO mix. I have been with many different groups that go back and forth between the Green Mill, Fat Cat, The Pug and Crew.
Confused....check it out again. My gay and straight friends all enjoy the Pug and feel very comfortable there.
