Something To Be Thankful For

Seen today at Dearborn Grocer, 918 W. Montrose.

  1. What time was that picture taken? I saw the poles that have been put in place but it was still a street party with the regulars lined up on the rail guards in the back of the lot near the alley.

  2. This was taken and sent to us within the last 2 hours.

  3. By the looks of it, at least the bums will be sitting on the guard rail INSIDE the fence. Must give them a new sense of security.

  4. They moved to the alley. I see they are parked in front of some persons garage. Dangerous.

Do you think Pookie got relocation funds like the Tattoo Factory to move her 8 track business?

  5. I know it is always easy to find another negative about the situation. But in my opinion this is an example of what an organized community can do. Does it solve all the problems with this location, no. But I do think it will help with some of them. If nothing else it tells those of us who frequent this site and our voices do get heard! Thanks for posting those pictures it made my day.

Now it will be up to those who own property off that alley to regularly call 911 to get anyone loitering there to move on. If it is done enough people will stop coming there altogether.

  6. Loitering isn't a crime. They'll be free to lean up against that fence as long as the police don't catch them in the act of doing anything illegal.

  7. I passed by about 2:00, and yes indeed the camp had pitched it's tent on the alley side.
At least one in the group is always doing
something illegal, so 911 is a must.

  8. I'm very happy to see that Dearborn has finally ponied up. I have no doubt that UU had a lot to do with it. Power to the people!

  9. Uptown Vegetarian is right that this just shows what a well organized community can do and that people should stay on the police concerning illegal activities. When I spoke to one of the Dearborn owners I was surprised at the quotes that they had received, fences are expensive. We spoke on Halloween evening and at that point they were just reviewing quotes so I was surprised to see the photos of the posts. I see this as another victory for the Uptown Update community, well done.

  10. Thank GOD this is finally going up! Girlfriend and her crew were camped out in the entry way of that store one night (pre-fence) and someone had too many beans and shot feces out towards my new Steve Madden shoes as I walked down Montrose towards the Wilson Red Line train...good job to all who brought attention to this shitty issue!
