We were at Aldi's over the weekend -- the one part of Wilson Yard that's actually been started and finished. And this is what the parking lot looked like. (We didn't know Mad Dog 20/20 was still being made...!)
If this one small piece of Wilson Yard is already out of control, what will happen if and when Ald. Shiller's no-tests/no-requirements housing goes in? Remember, this "plan" isn't being financed by HUD or CHA, so their requirements for tenants aren't going to be in effect. The only tenancy tests will be whatever Holsten and Ald. Shiller dream up, and frankly, based on what the current site looks like already, we're not optimistic.
Where's the welcome wagon? It looks like they've already started moving in.

ReplyDeleteSomeone should take pictures of the delivery dock of the building just north of Just Tires on Broadway. From the Lawrence el stop in the morning, you can enjoy its residents sleeping, arguing and urinating on the property. Someone should gets some photos of it up on UU.
