What's Going On With Wilson Yard?

Our thanks to "James V" in the comments.
"Anyone spot the proposal to amend the Wilson Yard redevelopment agreement on today's Finance Committee Supplemental agenda?"

  1. So "I told ya so" Helen says it's going just as planned but she forgets to mention the need to amend the Wilson Yard development agreement. Oops.

  2. I know let's call the aldercreature's office and ask.

Ooops, I forgot. This is the equivalent of a national security secret. Can't talk. That would be bad. Wouldn't be prudent. The Russkies might find out.

  3. For those of us who speak English - what exactly does this mean?

  4. I have left a message with Peter Holsten, but haven't heard back yet. If you want to try for yourself, his office number is 312-337-5339. The receptionist said he would be the one to ask about any changes to the proposed development.

  6. Notice the date & time of the Finance committee meeting:

    Monday, October 6, 2008, 10:30 AM

Now notice when this agenda was submitted to the City Clerk:

    Friday, October 3, 4:39 PM

So no way this agenda was posted on the internet 48 hours, 2 business days, prior to the public meeting, as required by Illinois law.

    ILLINOIS OPEN MEETINGS ACT

    Dear neighbors,

You've just had your rights violated. Again.

And your home town violated state law. Again.

  7. What does this obtuse statment mean? Why are they trying to shove yet another WY amended ordinance under the carpet?

Key words, "Concerning the authority to amend".

In other words, they don't have the authority right now and want to cover their as#%! while they rob the TIF taxpayers blind, take Uptown over the subsidized housing brink, and guarantee that Broadway never becomes a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly retail center in Uptown.

The City Council meeting will be broadcast live on the Internet.
Go to www.chicityclerk.com. 10 am sharp tomorrow.

  8. We could always ask our Alderman to intervene on our behalf, and ask her to ensure that notice was proper.

sorry, you will learn nothing of the substance of this proposal by listening or attending, our alderman rarely even mention actual issues in full City Council meetings, certainly this will not be debated

  10. The Finance Committee is meeting right now-Tues. Oct. 7th around 12:00. Apparently, they didn't finish all their business yesterday...if that gives anyone any incentive to see what they can find out. I'm nowhere near City Hall right now, but I'm sure someone is...

While the Finance Committee is in session right now, the WY matter was already approved during yesterday's regular session of the Finance Committee. Today is only the reconvened session of the Joint Finance & Aviation Committee to discuss the Midway deal.

  12. Whatever it is, it's going to be the law of the land by this time tomorrow. The Monday 10 AM Finance committee meeting before a Wed 10 AM full city council meeting is setting the table.

  13. another odd thing about this item is I can't find it being introduced to City Council and refered to Finance, I might be missing something, but it appears to have emerged from the Finance committee
