Still Blighted, After All These Years

The 4600 block of Broadway sure has seen better days. We had our hopes up that this stretch would soon be looking a lot greener with new trees in the long barren steel cut-outs in the sidewalk, but they seemed to have been overlooked. One other interesting note, we noticed that just north of these empty spots, there are NO cut-outs for any additional trees (further up by Army Surplus and Hana To Yoko Flowers). Does anyone have ideas why this would have been done and why this is not remedied?

  1. Someone should tell the Alderman about this stretch of our fair neighborhood...that is RIGHT OUTSIDE HER FAKKIN' OFFICE!

Isn't this the theme for just about every post? I don't even ask this question anymore...

  3. Wilson and Broadway, continues to be like a low-budget scene out of Blade Runner.
Tawdry, and abrasive 'sellers' of questionable goods on the corner.
The sorry individual camped out in the doorway, just north of the L stop.
Lack of proper lighting under the tracks.

Again....per the last comment.....this is par for the course on most Uptown issues.

And yes.....all this a few hundred feet from Shiller's office.

    She should be ashamed.

  4. Helen must think this area is outside the range of the cameras that will obviously all be focused on her Aldermanic Office and Wilson Yard when Target makes the "Big Announcement."

I wonder if the trees are just rentals. Hmmm Can you even rent trees?

  5. The lack of cutouts and trees north of the flower shop may be to reduce any interference with the el tracks. Tree branches connected to high voltage rails would not be fun...
