Did You Know....? Multi-Unit Buildings Get Trash Pick-Up Rebates

A reader writes: "During these tough financial times, I wonder how many condo buildings are taking advantage of the City's Condo Refuse Rebate program? Our building has received over $2000 in rebates. Be aware it can take over a year before you see the first rebate check from the City that works. Details at this link."

This is to reimburse buildings that don't qualify for City trash removal (five or more units) and that have to pay for private garbage pick-up.

Update: December 1, 2008 is the deadline for building associations to file for the refuse rebate for 2007.

  1. Just be warned that this is a fairly long and drawn out process and it can take the city well over a year. We filed our application over a year ago and still haven't seen a check. We called to ask what was taking so long and were told that the city was processing payments from 2006.

    Yeah Government!

  2. Most large buildings know about this as it pays up to $75.00 per unit. Smaller building should check the ordinance to see if it applies to them. It's only good if you use a private hauler.
