A reader writes in:"I was woken up this morning by the sound of chainsaws and wondered what was being destroyed. Later today, after eating lunch at the Golden Pancake I was walking home and saw this. I am a bit confused about why this tree was cut down, it looked fine to me. A branch was cut off last year after that massive storm we had but other than that the tree looked fine. I also noticed that the street sign was damaged and it makes me question what happened. Does anyone know why this tree was cut down and if so what will replace it? I also wonder how long it will take to get the sign fixed, hopefully soon. 'Tis sad!
