Lots Of Activity At Sheridan And Argyle

A reader just sent in the following photos showing the intersection of Sheridan and Argyle with lots of emergency vehicles and bystanders crowded around. Any idea of what happened here?

Update: A reader writes: "I was there at 7:00 p.m. There was a fire in one unit on the 4th floor. As this is a nursing home, there was an evacuation of the residents. The fire was quickly put out. I saw one man in an ambulance being treated for breathing problems, and the others were being led back into the building when I left there at 7:30 p.m. "

  1. No idea but the fire trucks & police cars were blazing a trail there for a good 20 minutes.

  2. So in the Redeye today, there are 3 restaurants that haven't reopened after being inspected and shut down this summer. Where are there? Allll in uptown! Nice. You stay classy Uptown.

  4. thanks UU! we saw nine fire trucks, multiple commander trucks and many squad cars. looked like all of the residents of somerset place were evacuated and standing along the street. the police and fire personel were all too busy to answer questions.

  5. I saw this activity as well. Probably like a lot of Uptown residents (and UU regulars), I was concerned that it was another violent crime. Sadly, the default thinking in Uptown has become tragic and paranoid. Hopefully everyone was safely evacuated. Thanks for the consistent stream of information, news, and photos.

Then by all means, darling, go have lunch at Fruitfly Fulton's on the River and enjoy the extra "caraway seeds" in your entree, and salad, and desert.

    Urinetown, is that you?
