Help: Lost Austrian Shepherd

Update: Good news! From the comments: "Dear Uptown neighbors. Our Ruthy was found late this afternoon on the lakeshore bike path at Addison. We adopted her only last week. She's had a tough life, and was having difficulty adjusting to being in the city and in a condo. We are very relieved that she was found. Thank you all for your good wishes. Rick and Peter"

(note the photo is not the lost dog, but a photo of the type of breed)
Our new dog ran away. She is an Austrian Shepherd, 6 years old gray with black spots. Her hair has been clipped. She is extremely shy. She got out of her collar and ran.

  1. Does the dog have a name? It would be helpful in case someone sees it...

  2. I think I met you today on my walk at leland/dover, I was the guy with the westie (I'm signed in under my girl's non-de-plume btw). I'm really sorry that your dog is missing, she was really beautiful - we'll keep our eyes peeled and we really hope you find her soon. Once again sorry, I know how distressing this must be, but keep the faith and I'm sure she'll show up. Wish we could help more but we'll keep looking - I know what the dog looks like, she's very distinct, we'll do all we can.

  3. I'm on Malden, near Montrose, and I'll for sure keep a look out.

    Best of luck

  5. That is GREAT!

That's a pretty far location to be found, so I'm glad it worked out!

  6. Rick and Peter,
Our rescue did the same thing three times the first week we moved here...something about that lake air made him want to RUN. I felt like a bad parent, but it turns out they just need to learn how good home can be. Sounds like you are going to show her, I'm so glad you found your pooch. Would you (or anyone around) be interested in starting a group dog walk?
