Riv Theatre Joining In On The Rehab Craze?

Lots of activity today at the Riv rehab site. It appears the Riv Theatre is thankfully joining in on the rehab craze sweeping Uptown. A large boom is in front of the theatre and workers are attaching a wire-mesh to the top terra-cotta section of the building. Notice the white plywood boxes that have been attached to the old movie poster marquees on each side of the main entrance. Any restoration junkies out there who care to chime in on what they think is going on? In a related note, check out the Uptown Broadway Building if you get a chance. More glass has been added and the checkerboard tile entrances have made a return.

  1. Awesome! I was a little apprehensive when I heard Jam bought the Uptown Theater since they own the Riv and it just does not have a nice street level facade. I love seeing shows at the Riv, but the front could use a little work.

With the bank going in and looking all nice, it would be great if the Riv cleaned up the front doors a little and under the marquee. It could be a really nice looking building.

  2. I think it means that they had the facade inspected and its in need of repair, not necessarily that it's gonna get a make-over...

  3. I'm inclined to agree with Larry. Adding wire mesh is a sign that the facade is crumbling and they're not immediately going to fix it.
