Volunteers Needed For Next Meet-N-Greet Event

We've ALL got to leave our homes, whether they're Section 8 rentals or condos,
and make our presence known outside of our front doors.
That's how to make a neighborhood "our own."

- an Uptown Update commenter, quoted in the News-Star

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
- Mahatma Gandhi

Incorporating both those sentiments, the Uptown Crime Blotter folks are busy organizing the next "get out and meet your neighbors" event. They've posted a list of needs for volunteers on the Blotter.

Interested in helping "be the change" in Uptown? Take a look and see if there's anything you can do to help 'em out.

  4. I am liking what everyone is doing to get more involved in the community but lately I have been getting pretty upset about the poverty politics around here. I am a caring person and I really wanted to live in a diverse urban neighborhood like this one. To be honest it hurts my feelings to be accused of racism, hatred and selfishness. I always saw myself as someone who was willing to "fight the good fight" for justice and equality. Now just by owning property here I am seen as a force for evil. I won't take such false accusations lying down but I will admit that it breaks my heart. There is so much goodness in Uptown. Why does it have to be like this? It's not right.

  5. Saturday, May 17th, is Clean n Green. I know several block clubs are already getting together to clean up their areas. Just an FYI.
