Incorporating both those sentiments, the Uptown Crime Blotter folks are busy organizing the next "get out and meet your neighbors" event. They've posted a list of needs for volunteers on the Blotter.
Interested in helping "be the change" in Uptown? Take a look and see if there's anything you can do to help 'em out.

ReplyDeleteI am liking what everyone is doing to get more involved in the community but lately I have been getting pretty upset about the poverty politics around here. I am a caring person and I really wanted to live in a diverse urban neighborhood like this one. To be honest it hurts my feelings to be accused of racism, hatred and selfishness. I always saw myself as someone who was willing to "fight the good fight" for justice and equality. Now just by owning property here I am seen as a force for evil. I won't take such false accusations lying down but I will admit that it breaks my heart. There is so much goodness in Uptown. Why does it have to be like this? It's not right.
ReplyDeleteSaturday, May 17th, is Clean n Green. I know several block clubs are already getting together to clean up their areas. Just an FYI.
