Notable Arrests - April In The 23rd District

The "notable arrests" newsletter is out for April, and the uptick in crime is reflected in the four pages (39 arrests) for the 23rd District.

It's of interest to us that the 23rd District runs from Fullerton to Lawrence and has one of the lowest overall crime rates in the city. However, of the 39 "most notable" arrests, all but two of them are connected to Uptown. (The other two are in Wrigleyville.)

Next time you're told by a politician how low the crime rate is for the 23rd District, filter that out and ask about the crime rate in Uptown. It's a whole 'nother story.

As always, the newsletter "is designed to inform interested members of the community with timely information regarding individuals who have been arrested and charged with the commission of a crime that occurred within our area. We emphasize that unless otherwise noted, these individuals have already been taken into custody, formally charged, are awaiting trial and are NOT WANTED at this time. Should you observe any of these individuals committing criminal acts, please contact the police via 9-1-1 immediately and take no further action."

UPDATE: Per request, the 20th District "notable arrests" have been added to the linked document. Also, a link to the 20th District's home page has been added to the links at the right side of the page.

  1. 31 of 39 were "known gang members"

    Mixed feelings on that one.

  2. Do you have information about the other Uptown police district, District 20 (Beats 2024 and 2033)? And could add a link to that district on your page for those of us in Uptown between Lawrence and Foster?
    Thanks!

  3. A fascinating and disturbing portrait of the neighborhood activities in Uptown.

Of the 37 "notable arrests" in Uptown, 28 of the "subjects" (over 75%!!) had a last known address outside of the 23rd district!! Some even come from Skokie and Matteson to do their thing!

Is Uptown a destination for criminals? Do we now have commuter criminals?

  4. The prisons used to drop off released prisoners with no homes into Uptown by the bus load on a frequent basis, but I heard they stopped doing that. I'm beginning to wonder if this is happening again.

  5. Hey,

many of us want people from outside the ward to come here and partake in the glory that is UPtown.

These idiots just add to the mix. Notice how dumb and ugly most of them are. Of course if that was a criteria for being arrested then BillyJoe would be on Uptown's Most Wanted list.

My personal favorite is the 50 year old white gangbanger from Beverly. Is that a mistake or is he a long gone "Kenmore Boy" or Uptown "Gaylord" coming back to check out his old criminal stomping grounds?

Yes Billy Joe one of the old gangs around here was called the "gaylords". Google it and snicker as you try to come up with some unwitty comment or observation.

"Bad boys, bad boys what ya gonna do. Whatya gonna do when they come for you. Bad boys bad 50 year old boys, why ya coming from Beverly to make them come for you."

Ok, I may be an established and well known writer, but I can't write a purloined song lyric worth a damn.

  6. I'm curious about the 50 year old white "known gang member" myself.

I'd be interested in joining his gang.

Done, and done. The 20th District's "notable arrests" have been to the linked document, and the 20th District's homepage is now on UU's list of links too.

Sorry for shortchanging you, 20th District Uptowners.

  8. Many of you have asked "how do you spot gangbangers?"

Well, here you go. Pay attention to your surroundings and call 911 when you see anything you think you should call for.

A few of my favorite Clarendon Park gangbangers made the list this time around. Keep up the good work fellas!

  10. So, when pic #13 Jeramiah Moore (thankfully) shaved his hair, did he change his name to pic #20 Chris Moore, or is that just his twin brother?

  11. Good call confused. That had me cracking up! I think they are both "him."

  12. I am glad to see Jerry Hill is in here again. How many times can this guy get arrested?

  13. Mr. Correa has been busy as well. I see him often over near Clarendon park. He's kind of hard to miss, given who he hangs out with.

  14. Antonio Sanchez aka "Baby Jesus".

  17. You all will be glad to know that Mr. Moore and maybe his twin brother (although I've never seen two of them together)along with Mr. Sanchez are back terrorizing the streets of Clarendon Park. So much for our legal system.

  19. Well maybe if someone from the Alderman's office attended CAPS meetings from time to time they would be better informed about the crime that takes place on our streets.

  20. Holy Sh$#! Jerry Hill stopped me in front of my condo this week and asked me what I did for a living and we actually had a little conversation. I didn't feel threatened at all in that he had 3 young kids with him and was polite. I take it he is well known around these parts? Is he associated with the P. Stones?

  21. Why the shock over a 50 year old white gang member? How old do you think Jeff Fort was? There are white gangs and SOMEBODY has to be at the top or near it...

  22. A 50 year old white gang member from Beverly being arrested in Uptown on the same day and two blocks over from a major gang disturbance is interesting.

It is "different" which is worthy of comment. That doesn't mean it is like spotting a unicorn and totally unique.

I wonder what the backstory is. Gramps reminds me of the kind of middle aged tough who likes to start fights in bars or at Sox Park.

  23. Where can I find the notable arrests for other police districts?

    ReplyDelete
  24. How did the P. Stones make their way into this neighborhood? I get that the Latin Kings got pushed out when Buena Park flipped, but the Gangster Disciples had such a lock on the Northern end I just don't understand how the P. Stones made a dent in their territory. The Vice Lords always had some presence.

From what blocks did the P. Stones get their foot hold?

  25. Area Three puts out a "notable arrests" for the four districts in it. I'd bet all the police Areas do.

Call 311, or call the 23rd District CAPS office (312-744-0064) and ask them about it. I don't know, but I bet they do.

  26. James Cappleman has a great map he used in his campaign that shows the gang territories. Broadway is the dividing line for most of the gangs.

    P. Stones are west of Broadway and north of Montrose. Their gang headquarters hangout is the Sunnyside mall at Magnolia.

  27. Anyone ever calculate what percentage of 23 district crimes take place in Uptown?
