Good news if you are a resident of the Graceland Wilson Neighbors Association (GWNA). The boundaries for this block club are Montrose to Wilson and Broadway to Beacon. A block club meeting, one that is long overdue, is planned for 7pm, Tuesday, May 20 at the Bridgeview Bank conference room at Lawrence and Broadway. 2. Does anyone know what will be discussed at the meeting? Do I need to be a current member of the association to attend?

  3. I don't know about the agenda, but all who live within the GWNA boundaries are welcome and encouraged to come. Please do!

  4. Does "beacon to broadway" include residents living on beacon and broadway, or UP TO beacon and broadway?

  5. GWNA boundaries include the east side of Broadway, Montrose, both sides of Beacon, and the south side of Wilson.

This is a general meeting to revive our block clubs. We'll be discussing community issues including Sunnyside Mall, Fire Station Garden (GWNA created this garden), board members and block club captains, and membership drive

We also need a new Webmaster to update and maintain www.gwna.org.

The membership will set the direction for GWNA.

  6. I would assume that it means residents living on Broadway. If there is any doubt of who this includes or does not include, you cannot go wrong by attending. I am sure all residents are welcome. Perhaps someone from GWNA can elaborate?

  8. Thank for clarifying that Max. We must have been commenting at the same time. Good to hear GWNA is firing up again!

  9. Is it only limited to those living within the boundaries of the block club? I think it would be useful to open it up to others, no?

  10. I don't know what the official policy is, but at least for this meeting, I'd hope that anyone who lives anywhere near the boundaries and is interested in improving the neighborhood come to this meeting!!!!

Hopefully Max will chime in with a formal clarification.

  11. Uptown has 15 block clubs.

You can find which block club serves your neighborhood by going to www.uncchicago.org and clicking on Uptown Block Clubs.

We do have members who live outside our boundaries, no one is turned away.

GWNA was very active when it was incorporated in 2003. It takes a lot of volunteer time and energy to run a block club.

I hope many of my neighbors want get involved with GWNA. Tuesday's meeting is where we'll start working to make our neighborhood and safer, better place for all.

  12. I'm trying to find any recent activity from the GWNA, and not having much luck. Does this organization still exist?
