We spotted this sign today in the window of Express Corner at 1111 W. Wilson, right under the L tracks. We suspect that the "remodeling" has something to do with the fact that they failed inspection on May 1. Hopefully the remodel will correct all the violations found by the city.
I understood that there was an ordinance requiring establishments which failed to pass an inspection to display a sign informing the public.
ReplyDeleteI don't see a sign at Express Corner. Perhaps the statutory elapsed?
Or they are hoping no one notices. It could be hidden on that interior door. You can see the back side of a sign or notice taped to the door. It is not displayed prominently, that is for sure.
ReplyDeleteJust like Popeye's- how nice.
ReplyDeleteAnother fine establishment with whom the CTA, in it's wonderful lack of discretion, chose to sign a vendor space lease. Way to go CTA! Just like Popeye's.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of CTA, any word on the Wilson El community meetings Huberman stated would be held this summer?
ReplyDeleteI always wondered about this place. I pass by it everyday before walking up the Montrose red line entrance. Always seemed sketchy. Sadly though, even if it served the best coffee in the world, I still wouldn't go in - too worried about missing a train!
ReplyDeleteNow if they had a good greasy burger that I could pick up on the way home and eat without health worries...
CTA is one of Uptown's last Slum landlords.

ReplyDeleteUptown gal, boy is this the truth!
