A reader writes in: At 7:50pm I went to get some soda at JJ Peppers with my father. While he was standing outside, 5 shots were fired at Sheridan and Lawrence. They hit a man. There were a ton of gang bangers and all the "know" drug dealers were there!
Not many more details to give she walked past with an assistant did not talk to the police just went inside and talked to someone on her pda. Was complaining about getting police response to her office while this was going on to remove a drunk that was getting loud with her staff.
"Gee, just a block away from where Labor Ready will be, too."
If you look at the gang map, their prospective location is actually in "no man's land" between two rival gangs. It is going to get pretty interesting around here.
Schiller was busy presenting information on multi-unit recycling in the 46th ward at Truman College at 7:50 last night. I attended and the meeting was actually very informative and constructive; if only we could see that kind of commitment from Schiller to solve some of these more pressing issues. My stretch of Ainslie, between Kenmore and Sheridan, is quite the war zone as summer approaches.
you don't have a good turnout at the every other month meetings, that's why it's every other. no need to have meetings when people don't even go!
neighbors - time to step up and get to work cleaning this place up. stop just complaining on the board and do something.... it's not going to be easy, but we all need to get together and work together on this.
Listening to the scanner now sounds like they caught the bad guys running down Lawrence.
ReplyDeleteYou guys got some serious problems around there.
ReplyDeleteJeez! This could be a really awful summer.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Ald. Shiller's office will have, as usual, no comment on or acknowledgment of all this recent violence.
Helen Schiller was in the inside of the Wilson L stop while the police activity was going down yesterday with an assistant.
ReplyDeleteGee, just a block away from where Labor Ready will be, too.

ReplyDeleteAnd what did Shiller do to help? Offer up a Chicken, a pigeon or a baggie?
ReplyDeleteWell that sure is ironic, anon 8:51. What was that about Nero fiddling while Rome burned?
ReplyDeleteWe have to come together as a community or this is going to be a terrible summer!

I love the Summers in Chicago but I do hate them in UpTown.
ReplyDeleteThree shootings in Uptown in the past week! And more gun fire, plus the riot with 50 teens at Pop-Eyes yesterday. This sounds like Iraq right now.
ReplyDeleteCalls for a major clean-up-the-gangs plan to be put in place right now. I feel sorry for the new commander, she's stepped into a landmine field.
where do you find a gang map?
ReplyDeleteThis is what you get when you provide all the social services Schiller does. This doesn't surprise me a bit.

ReplyDeleteI'm right around the corner from you Todd. I'm wondering why we have CAPS meetings only every other month?
