  1. Hmmmm.

Strange that Helen doesn't hold community meetings in other parts of the ward farther north.

    Why is that?

  2. No clue... =)
But we suggest our readers attend this meeting since this may be the only chance they get to ask questions and maybe get an answer. Also, check out the Belmont Harbor Neighbors forum on their website to see what some of their current concerns are.

  3. From an actual concern on the Belmont Harbor Neighbors web site:

Q: The Deli at the corner closed. What business will replace it?

A: As you know, and as has always been the case, I work hard on working with business owners in an effort to not only finance my campaigns, but to provide much needed services to ward residents, and to create a critical mass of businesses but we have to do things in a way that makes sense and takes into account our diversity and mulitculturalism which stems from the fact that there are many cultures in the ward and we all need to be mindful of that diversity and preserve opportunities for those who have lived in the ward for some time, which I have always been careful about protecting. With that said, we must move forward in a measured way with growth without displacement and being sure that basic services and needs are met, which is why I voted yes on the city budget to keep Chicago a world class city and keep Chicago moving forward.

    Q: Could you repeat that?

  5. It's early in the morning and I haven't had my coffee yet, so please excuse me if I'm kinda slow here. But could someone please confirm that the "question" and "answer" posted above is a parody. Because if that is real my head will explode.

  6. We are pretty sure its a parody of answers heard coming from the Alderman in the past.
Good morning and we hope your head doesn't explode.

  8. This will probably be the usual Charlotte Newfeld - Shiller lovefest. They'll probably talk about how wonderful Lakeview is and how Lakeview Citizen Council should be in charge of everything in Uptown given that the Uptown locals are just too busy solving crime. Then they'll decide to clean up their own neighborhood by dumping everything they don't want north of the Irving Park line and telling the world how wonderfully caring they are by supporting all these causes - in Uptown but not in their back yard. It's the usual pattern.

  9. Damn! I'll be out of town for this (but will be close in spirit since I'll be in Detroit).

Still, I wanted to ask her about rumors I've heard of her eating babies.

That, and I wanted to know, firsthand, if she really does leave a trail of sulpher.

Still, I'm amazed she could get her hooves into those sandals.

Anyone know if she, or any of her flying monkeys, read this blog? That'd be funny.
