'ParVenu' Got Tagged

Seen at Sheridan and Leland. We wonder if maybe it says "Season's Greetings" in "tagger-ese?" Maybe not.

Update: A reader who lives in the building wrote in:
"I am on the board at the Parvenu Condo building. We were "tagged" several weeks ago. I can report that the person responsible was caught and a court date is set for January 17th 2008. Our security guard caught him and immediately called the police. He stayed on the phone with the dispatcher describing which direction he went, what he was wearing, etc. The police found him and the guard I.D.'d him. He was also carrying spray paint. Not bright. The city attempted to blast it away with lukewarm results. It's not pronounced, but still there. We are going to attempt removal at our cost, which we will ask the person responsible to pay for. He also etched a tag in our retail window and that unfortunately costs money. Thousands of dollars!"

  4. That's nice when the clean up is arranged faster than we photographers can get our pictures edited and submitted. Bravo!

  5. It's time for some vigilante action against these taggers. Let's see how they handle a bunch of neighbors armed with pipes and baseball bats.

  8. This is from a ParVenu Resident:

good news! the graffiti happened Friday night around midnight. Our temporary security guard was out there and identified a suspect who he witnessed doing the last of the three gang tags on the Parvenu...he called the police and they chased down the suspect who met the description he had given them. The Police came back a few minutes later with suspect captured, and the guard positively identified him! The guy had a backpack full of spray paint and he was arrested. The court date is January 17th.

We're asking the State's Attorney to include restitution for any costs associated with the incident.

Hooray for busting crime! Spread the word!

  9. I'm so glad the Parvenu people caught this guy and his backpack of spraypaint. Can you post the details close to the court date? I'd like to show up as a court advocate.

  10. Bravo ParVenu! Now we should ask our tagger if he went to the Shiller school of "grafitti art" this Spring, held with our tax dollars at Truman College, to get pointers on perfecting his craft.

  11. Unfortunately since tagging has this 'cool' element to it (because it's forbidden, or deigned an artform) there'll always be these idiots attacking property with wanton abandon.
