Wilson Yard 'Land Rush'

Golly, it seems some folks in Uptown cannot wait for the low-income portion of the Wilson Yard project to come to fruition. Today, passing the site on the El, we spotted 3 African-American gentlemen who were knocking over the construction fence on Montrose and running into the site. They may have been trying to stake their claim in the upcoming towers, who knows. We apologize for the blurry pic but we think you can make out what we are talking about. The police were notified of the trespassing shenanigans.

  1. The guy on the left looks to have a hardhat on.

Could be an employee. Of course I have two hardhats. One white and one red for special occasions. That doesn't make me a Holsten employee.

  2. We can assure you that that chap is not wearing a hard hat. Too bad the picture wasn't more clear.

  3. I am getting more depressed about the future of this property by the second.

  4. Why should Holstein want to hurry? If he delays he can, and will, get an TIF extension to extend the development another 10 years. That's 10 more years of City money to funnel into his back pockets and to his friends and the Alderbeast. Why on earth would he even attempt to get the development finished by the upcoming end of this TIF period when he has nothing to win by doing so? (Unless of course, someone else has figured out the fraud in study that found an adequate number of TIF factors. (Hint: Think sewers.)

  5. Why would the African-American gentlemen be low-income?

  6. The housing to be built there is government subsidized and strictly low income. Nothing to do with the PHD candidates taking down the fence.
