Be Thankful Smell-O-Vision Hasn't Been Invented

After exiting the train at Wilson, residents and visitors to Uptown are first greeted with a ceiling collapse that has YET to even be repaired yet (what's up with that?) and then when exiting on Broadway they get to pass by a urine and god-knows-what-else soaked entryway to a long vacant CTA storefront. Although its hard to tell in the pic, that gray panel separating the window from the sidewalk is so crusted over with year's old urine that its literally rotting away. We guess that our decrepit ol' Wilson stop is a low priority on the CTA totem pole. Ron Huberman (CTA president and Uptown resident) must plug his nose when he walks by and then covers his head to protect it from falling debris when entering this station. He might even close his eyes so he can pretend it isn't that bad. If you are tired of the constant deterioration of this station, give the CTA a call at 1-888-968-7282.

  1. ron huberman is too in love with the power to take notice - he is just a daley lakey and won't go out of his way to take care of his own neighborhood el stop - wouldn't surprise me if he moves to lincoln park or south loop ...

  2. Did anyone else see the tracks on fire on Monday night around 2 am? Just north of the station. The fire department came and put out the fire, as at least 4 trains went right by.
Crumbling from within...bursting into flames from without.

  3. Sue, if I may, I think you're comments are off base. What took years to break isn't going to be fixed in weeks or months. Even if he does move to Lincoln Park or South Loop, so what? Just because he lives in the neighborhood shouldn't mean that el station should get preferred status. Yes it is miserable, but so is Argyle, Thorndale, and a number of others on the North Side. Even downtown, the Grand stop is in pretty bad shape.
I attended a meeting two years ago regarding the Wilson Yards. Unfortunately, we were told at that time that the Wilson El stop is not scheduled for renovations until 2012! We were all astounded that the el stop and the new development were not being coordinated, but we were also told the CTA has their own budget and doesn't have to coordinate nor answer to the aldermen.
So, if the Wilson el stop is renovated anytime before 2012, then maybe you should thank Ron Huberman, otherwise, this was decided long before he got the position.

  4. 2012? And you're fine with that? Given the delays we've seen with WY, what makes you think that the "L" station will be renovated by then? And is it going to look like it does until 2012? 2015? 2020? And the Wilson "L" station is way worse than Argyle, Thorndale and all North Side stations. You say the Grand stop is in pretty bad shape. That may be true, but the wilson "L" stop is crumbling in front of everyone. It was on fire last week!! Sue is not off base. However, I think you are off your rocker.

  5. My friend, no I am not fine with 2012. My point, though, which you totally missed was that this was not decided by Ron Huberman. So, before you all continue calling people names, get the facts straight!

  6. funny when rich daley moves into his new neighborhood the missions and homeless shelters are moved, the roosevelt station cleaned up, new bridges - funny when "good" people moved into Lincoln park, infrastructure improved, funny how after 1991 when hs was no longer the alderman the stretch of Southport became hot area. = sorry anonymous 1 - but ron huberman can do something right away just like daley can and shiller can but as long as people give them passes (and in the case of daley/shiller vote blindly) we should expect more for a "hoodie"
