An "Uptown Update" reader writes in asking the following:"Question of the Day: What is wrong with this picture?
Answer: Yet another child sex offender is living in the Salvation Army Men’s shelter across the street from an elementary school.
Will this ever end? Why doesn’t this get prevented instead of caught by me after the fact? How long has this guy been here with no one noticing?
There is only one way that he can be listed there. That is if he is solely using the Salvation Army as his mailing address and really living on the street (isn’t that comforting?) In that situation he is supposed to be designated as such by being listed as a Shelter registrant on the Illinois Sex Offender Website. This gentleman does not have this designation listed."
