  1. How can this be? On Chicago Tonight, Shiller said there were only 8 empty store fronts along N. Broadway within the 46th Ward.

  2. We suppose fuzzy math? Also its a matter of what she considers vacant. There are several buildings showcased that do not have "FOR RENT" signs but they are obviously abandoned. We stopped taking pics at Montrose but there are definately more spots further south on Broadway...the old KFC comes to mind.

  3. What else did Shiller say when she was on? It's hard to imagine she has much to say about her ward.

She's had 20 years to turn the retail district around and today this is what we have. From the interview, Shiller believes the magic bullet is Wilson Yard, but that remains a mess right now. Ironically, it says something that Uptown Update is doing more to promote retail than the Alderman's office.

  6. James Shiller's math is a little off. She often miss quotes things or makes it up.
