No more Spotted Pig?

During a Fourth of July walk, the Cub Reporter noticed that the sign and menu that were in the window of the Spotted Pig have been removed. Did the owners decide not to open? Uptown could use a nice casual restaurant and that location has a great area for outdoor dining. Any insight?

  1. They probably can't use the name Spotted Pig since there is one already in NYC.

  3. I'm curious as well. Hope it opens soon. Good luck to the owners.

About a month ago I peeked through the door and the space was empty. A couple of days ago I looked again and noticed a lot had been done - counters, shelves, etc.

I think it's okay to use the name unless the other Spotted Pig has trademarked it.

  4. Somehow I don't think the Spotted Pig will open. The owner's other restaurant in Lincoln Park closed, as I understand, unexpectedly, and he is known for bad business practices. I read several postings online from people who worked for him saying he does things like claim the food is Vegan, but it isn't. I know it sounds like sour grapes, but he screwed me over too.
