Wilson Yard Task Force Meeting

The Wilson Yard Task Force meeting that was scheduled for today, May 29 has been postponed. It has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 6, at 8:30am in the faculty lounge of Truman College. We encourage all Uptown residents to attend, although we realize it will be difficult since most people work during these hours. We also think it would be beneficial for the community to have dates of times of important meetings listed on Alderman Shiller's website. Please contact Alderman Shiller's office at 773-878-4646 for more information.
(Our thanks to BuenaLawfield from BPN)

  1. Called Helen’s office to find out why they would hold such a meeting at such a ridiculous time. The individual who answered the phone said “that is the way it has always been” and continued to explain that the time is convenient for the committee members because they can drop by on their way to work. When do they go to work, noon? She also indicated that if they require community input they will hold a community wide meeting in the evening, but there is nothing planned....... Surprise, Surprise.......

  3. And shouldn't the Illinois State Law that mandates regular disclosures to those on the "interested parties" TIF list make sure that we are told in advance about these meetings? What exactly does the Dept of Planning's Don Honenadal and Sam Assafa inform this community of before it is already a done deal?
Let's remember, under the TIF law Helen has no formal authority - she is just one more vote on the city council. The Dept of Planning is supposed to be running the project and providing the community disclosures.
