Neighbors living near Clarendon and Lakeside/Leland recently received letters about a proposed zoning change having to do with the empty lot (4700 N Clarendon) and the empty building (4720 N Clarendon) and their proposed use as extensions of Chicago Lakeshore Hospital.  The zoning hearing is Thursday, February 17th.  For background on the building and its proposed use, click here.

  1. The only thing which is a little unclear to me is the need for parking, if there's a half-empty garage immediately across Leland, already.

  2. Despite the lot, people still park on the street. I'm in favor of more parking, especially since in the summer streets get packed all the way to sheridan w/ people walking to the beach.

  3. I sooner have this Private Psychiatric and Drug Rehab Hospital on the property then more section 8 housing. A for-profit business will generate taxes which is a good thing for our ward.

  4. Meg,

Well .. that makes entirely too much sense.

No wonder I didn't realize it sooner.
