Ald. Shiller To Appear On Local Live Phone-In Show

Get your questions ready! 46th Ward Alderman Helen Shiller will appear on CAN-TV's Political Forum show on Wednesday, July 30th, at 7pm (Channel 21). The show is described as giving "Chicago residents the opportunity to ask questions about city services and activities in their neighborhoods."

We think her constituents might have a question or two for the alderman.

  1. Joe Moore is on tonight. This I have to DVR. Alderman Moore's performance should be a strong indicator of what Alderman Shiller's will be like.

  2. Believe it when you hear it...

"We were supposed to have Ald. Helen Shiller on with us tonight, but due to unforseen circumstances involving a sudden chill in her foot area, we present instead The Guy Who Sells Stuff On The Sidewalk At Wilson And Broadway. So tell us, Guy Who Sells Stuff, how did you get your start?..."

  4. Ald. Shiller, according to your own campaign finance disclosures, on 2/24/2003 on the eve of the election your campaign gave an $8,000.00 tip to your pizza man Sam Toia. What was the nature and purpose of this expenditure?

  5. If you think for second the calls won't be plants for the Shillerites, you're just fooling yourself.

"Alderman Shiller, the increased affordable housing you've created at Wilson Yard is great for the working people of Uptown, but I want to know what other affordable housing options are coming to the area?"

  6. Great idea. Let's give Shiller all the questions in advance. Awesome.

This cynicism is brought to you in part by Noah's Arcade. Party on, Wayne. And party on Garth.

  7. I really hope it's not a lovefest. Any news show worth its salt would LOVE some controversy.

Remember, posting on a blog is a lot like preaching to the choir. I'd love to see a LOT of readers have their dialing fingers ready on July 30th to actually ask some questions of the alderman that she's been dodging.

  8. or...here is an idea... Now that we actually know where and when she will be somewhere, perhaps we greet her at the studio with a moving protest...

  12. For those of you like me, who do not have a history with Helen Shiller, I found the wikipedia version very informative

  13. tigcap are you trying to say that I have a history with Helen? My wife reads this. She will throw me out of the house if she finds out about Helen and I. I was young, she was a woman with power, it just kind of happened. We got lost in the romance of Wilson Yard.

Please from now on keep that stuff on the DL.
