Pride Parade No-Show?

We are receiving word that Alderman Shiller was a no-show at this year's Pride Parade. Can anyone confirm this?

  1. Don't know, but couldn't she at least take some interest in crowd management along the Lakefront? Does this woman do anything to earn her salary?

  2. Correct. No Alderman Shiller. On top of that, as politicians go, her lame contingent was the least visible of any in the parade.

  3. The 46th Ward Democratic Committeeman Tom Sharpe came into a close second with being the most lame. I saw 3 other people marching with Tom. I felt embarrassed for him.

  4. Shiller probably didn't want to be booed.

She does not like any kind of negative "feedback".

  5. That's right she was booed at the Gay Games and probably did not want a repeat performance.

  6. What does Tom Sharpe do for this community anyway? At least, unlike Shiller, he doesn't get paid for accomplishing nothing.

  7. The committeeman are making their appearance because they are up for re-election next year. Petitions should be circulating around your neighborhood soon enough.

  8. She was probably afriad on being hurt by someone from the grassy knoll area.

They might have thrown fruit loops at her.

  9. Personally, this is one area where I don't care that much. I think it is silly how it has become mandatory for every politician to participate in this event or get chastized. Most do it for no reason other than they have to politically. Why some feel that's important or something positive, is beyond me.

  10. I think it's important for Helen Shiller to show up since it is in her ward. If the election was coming up she would have been there.

  11. why is anyone surprised that hs did not show up ? she only shows up once every four years - the foolish gays who vote for her deserve the crap the 46th ward gets - do you think pepe from side tracks noticed ?

  12. Was Tom Tunney in the parade?

  13. I don't know if he had a car or float actually in the parade but he was shown on one of the evening television newscasts being interviewed while standing alongside the parade.

  14. i would discuss...but i don't understand what you wrote...can you rephrase it?

  15. Ok, JP.

Politicians can pay to have their own cars and floats in the parade that they sit in or ride on as part of the parade. That is called being a parade partcipant. I did not see him in a car or on a float as a participant in the parade. But, I did not watch the entire parade so I really don't know if he had a car or float in a part of the parade that I did not see.

However, he definately was present at the parade. I know he attended and watched the parade. I know that because on the TV news that evening he was interviewed standing along the parade route with the festivities going on around him. Therefore he was there at least as an onlooker, if not as an actual parade participant.

    Is that clear?

  17. Tom Tunney and Manny Flores shared the spotlight with a joint entry. They did the same last year.

  18. And all they really do is walk with a banner in front of them. They both walk with a rather large posse.
