$910,000 In TIF Approved For Uplift High School Plaza Upgrades

 

900 W. Wilson, Uplift High School

Mayor Johnson announced yesterday that Uplift High School at 900 W. Wilson would be receiving $910,000 from the Wilson Yard TIF for "Central Plaza Upgrades." 

Chicago Tribune ran a story 10 months ago that mentioned the school has 107 students and less than 10 percent of the facility was being utilized.

    For almost $1mill let's hope that Johnson has a plan to double and triple the school population. What a waste of money.

    That is a drop in the bucket of any school's budget. I'd much rather see TIFF funds go to creating a welcoming and rich learning environment than to subsidizing private business.
