Sam & Gertie's Vegan Deli Now Open; A Vegan Taqueria/Cantina Next? (Updated)

Sam and Gertie's is open! At least for now, hours will be limited to Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 2pm for the self-proclaimed "world's first vegan Jewish deli."

It was the final paragraph of the Eater article that piqued our interest. It looks like the third restaurant in the Kalishes' "Vegan Row" is coming into focus:

"Though they’re still in the midst of the opening whirlwind, the couple are getting ready to embark on their next venture — Porfirio D.F., a vegan taqueria and cantina inspired by Gina Kalish’s hometown of Mexico City. An opening timeframe is not yet available, but they hope to open the new restaurant this year."

UPDATE: If you were planning on going to Sam & Gertie's on Sunday, you'll have to put it off. From the Facebook page:  "Thank you to everyone for a great opening weekend! The crowd today was amazing and we’ve sold out of everything. Due to this we will be closed tomorrow. We’ll make more and be back next weekend. 🥯❤️ Thank you again!"
