Beware Of Netflix Scam

This isn't particular to our neighborhood, except that it's happening in Uptown, so be aware of any link that comes to you in email. Also, don't ever give out your SSN and/or mother's maiden name on anything as innocuous as a Netflix billing app.

From a reader:

"I am simply passing along a public service announcement.

I recently received an email notification that my Netflix account had expired. I have no idea when it was supposed to expire so I dutifully started entering my information along with credit card info.

It was a very, very convincing notification.

One of the last steps was to enter my social security number and mother's maiden name.  Ding, ding, ding!!! How could I be so stupid?

It's a scam.  Please don't fall for it."
