Christopher House is looking for volunteers and book donations for its Read-A-Thon.
For those not familiar with it: Christopher House is a 110-year-old organization with a location in Uptown, at Leland and Winthrop. It provides services for infants as young as six weeks old, children, teens and families; from pre-school to after-school activities to high school counseling to pregnancy and family counseling.
For two weeks, between February 28th and March 14th, "students, parents, faculty, staff, and the entire community will reinforce their commitment to literacy and the power of books by reading each and every day.
In addition, three celebration events – one at each Christopher House location: Belmont Cragin, Logan Square, and Uptown – will give families books to build at-home libraries, a Read-A-Thon kit, and fun literacy activities to reignite their commitment to reading."
