Today is the last day to contribute to the winter clothing drive being held by Friends of the 46th Ward Schools.
Winter wear, including coat, hats, scarves, and mittens, are being collected for students of the public schools located in the 46th Ward, most of whom are economically disadvantaged, and a high percentage of whom are homeless. Last year, two-thirds of the students at McCutcheon, one of the schools served, lived in homeless shelters.
If you can help, either with cash, or a purchase from the Amazon wish list (coats as low as $8!), or by dropping off supplies, you will have helped a child stay warm as he or she goes to school during the winter.
You can
- drop off supplies at Ald. Cappleman's office (4454 N Broadway) 9am-5pm Monday through Friday.
- make a purchase from the wish list.
- donate through the Facebook fundraiser.
- donate through the Paypal link on Friends of the 46th Ward School's webpage.
