Former Asian Supermarket Getting Makeover

There's a lot of rehabbing going on at the long-empty storefront at 4932 North Sheridan, but we don't know what's going in. Anyone?

In past days, we've seen a new awning go up, the old signage get removed, new windows, new interior lighting, a new HVAC system, and today it looked like workers were running cables in the ceiling.

According to Google Streetview, in September 2007, it was Trung Viet Supermarket, and in April 2009, it was Cho Dong Phuong Oriental Asia Market. By July 2011, it was for lease, and it has been empty ever since.

We asked Ald. Osterman's office about it, and they don't know what's happening with the improvements or who the new tenant will be, either.

Stay tuned!
