A 27-year-old man shot in the leg on the 1100 block of Wilson, across from Truman College, Thursday night a few minutes before midnight. Readers report hearing 10-15 shots fired in rapid succession.

According to witnesses, they came from a car that sped away from the scene. Police have a description and a partial plate number. It was reportedly seen heading north on Clark.

Amazingly for the number of shots reported, the victim was hit only once, in the leg. He was brought to Illinois Masonic for treatment.

Police were reportedly on the scene less than a minute after the shots were fired. With the firehouse being steps away, at Wilson and Racine, an ambulance was on the scene immediately.

The area was secured with crime scene tape and police were gathering evidence and shell casings.
