How Much Longer Before Work Begins?

(Nancy Stone / Chicago Tribune)
We've been sounding the alarm about the dangerous conditions of the Lake Shore Drive bridges at Wilson and Lawrence for nearly ten years. Finally, after a story in the Tribune last month, the state announced it will come up with funding for repairs. But will it be soon enough?

Tonight we heard from several readers about yet another instance of concrete dropping off the Wilson bridge:
"I just got off Wilson at LSD and the eastbound lane was shut down because a part of the bridge fell off!! They were cleaning it up, but it was easily the size of a few basketballs. Wasn't just a pebble."
They cannot fix these dangerous bridges fast enough.
