Wilson Reopened To Vehicles; Nite Work On Broadway Beginning 10/18
Wilson Avenue reopened to vehicular traffic late Thursday afternoon. There's a lot less steel overhead, as CTA workers continue their task of taking down Track 3 (and eventually rebuilding it, as well as adding an east passenger platform to the Wilson station). They are continuing their daytime work removing the tracks along Broadway, so Leland remains closed at Broadway.
Beginning Tuesday, October 18, and going through Friday, October 21, there will be overnight closures of Broadway between Wilson and Leland while they continue the work on Track 3. The notes we have say that it will be for "caisson activity." From our post last fall regarding the building of Tracks 1 and 2, caissons are support structures put into the ground to bear the weight of the columns that will hold up the new tracks.
Broadway will be closed from 9pm to 5am each night between the 18th and 21st, and CTA says, as they always do, "There will be dust and noise during this construction activity."
