It seems impossible that this is really happening, but after more than 50 years in business, this is the last week for Shake, Rattle & Read. Head on over to 4812 North Broadway before the close of business on Saturday, May 21st, to pay your respects to one of the greatest book and record stores Chicago has ever seen.

If you'd like to see owner Ric Addy one last time before he heads to Florida in June for a well-deserved retirement:
- He will be honored at the State of Uptown Luncheon, which takes place on Friday, May 20th, at Pho Viet. Tickets are available here.
- Ric will take over the Green Mill (4802 North Broadway) Sunday afternoon between 1pm and 4pm. There will be guests, a gig by his band the Pogo Ponies, and an open mic for tributes. Cash bar.
It's truly the end of an era.
