Shake Your Ears & Tail! Time For Buena Bunnies Basket Building This Sunday

Be a Buena Bunny this Sunday afternoon!  Join local residents and Buena Park Neighbors to create Easter baskets and fill plastic eggs with candy for the Easter egg hunts benefiting local kids.

All are welcome to join in the 15th Annual Buena Bunnies event. Approximately 25 baskets filled with toys and candy are needed this year for children of needy families who receive assistance from the St. Mary of the Lake St. Vincent de Paul Society food pantry, a Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Equally important is the need for hundreds of plastic Easter eggs to be filled with candy for the St. Mary of the Lake Easter Egg hunts which are for all young neighborhood children and held on Easter Sunday at 10:30am and 2pm on the St. Mary of the Lake church lawn.

Here's how to help:
  • Show up! If you can, bring baskets, small toys, candy and/or plastic eggs.
  • If you can't, show up anyway! It's a lot of fun building the baskets and enjoying camaraderie with your neighbors.
  • If you can't be there, but would like to help, put baskets, small toys, candy and/or plastic eggs in the special donation box in the back of the St. Mary of the Lake church.
  • Buena Park Neighbors will provide recyclable "grass," cellophane wrap, ribbon, and other supplies for making the baskets. The annual Ellen Feinberg award will be given for the best Easter basket.
The magic happens on Sunday, March 13th, at 2pm in the SMOL School Hall. It's located on Buena slightly west of Kenmore, and parking is available in the lot there. Enter the building through the parking lot.

Buena Park Neighbors is a 46th Ward neighborhood association of more than 200 residents, businesses and not-for-profit organizations in the nationally registered Buena Park Historic District. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for everyone in Buena Park.
