No More Free Ride - Broadway Goes PayBox

The east side of the 4600 block of Broadway - one of the few arterial streets in Uptown with non-metered parking - had payboxes installed this week.

Cars that have parked there for weeks at a time are now gone, and there is rapid turnover in the available spaces.

We imagine that this is great news for the merchants on that block who have been adversely affected by the Wilson L construction and whose potential customers had difficulty finding places to park.

We imagine it's bad news for the drug dealer in the beat-up black car who held regular "office hours" while parked there for the past few years.

  1. So why is this drug dealer not locked up since he is apparently well known?

Glad to see this stretch of Uptown finally getting cleaned up--now if we can just relocate everything but the bike shop and Thai restaurant...
