Greg Harris to Speak at CEP's Open House / Volunteer Event Wednesday

On Wednesday evening, December 16th, the Center for Economic Progress, which provides free income tax preparation for low-income Chicagoans, will sponsor a meet-and-greet and Open House at Truman College to attract volunteers for 2016.

Last year, CEP helped put more than $30 million back into the pockets of over 17,000 low-income Illinois families; equivalent to six weeks of take-home pay.  This year, they are aiming to help 20,000 families, but cannot do it without more volunteers. New and returning volunteers are invited to learn more about CEP’s work, training and certification requirements and how they can help in their community.

Rep. Greg Harris will be a special guest and will about the state budget's impact on the community and how volunteering with CEP helps provide families with financial security.  Refreshments and a light meal will be served. The Open House takes place between 6pm and 9pm at Truman College's Cafeteria, 1145 West Wilson. For more information, click here.
