  1. I see some complaints have started in other forums already. Now I wouldn't know a Ross Dress for Less from an Old Navy or a Gap. I had to look them up to see what they're about.

https://www.rossstores.com Hint hint UU you should post a link to their website in the story itself. Now while I lack knowledge of various retail stores I'm fairly sure I'm not the only one. Ross seems to have a large profile in the Chicago area. Lotsa locations.

Seems like a smaller version of Target with an emphasis on clothing/shoes with some home stuff and furniture too. I will likely seldom if ever shop there, but I welcome them to the neighborhood. Take that Tribune editorial board!

Now before anyone says it first I would like to make my opposition to any curb cuts here known. I'm also against any car hop service they may provide where they bring you clothing while you sit in your car. I would also like to thank Alderman Cappleman for NOT bringing a Trader Joe's/Chipotle to MY neighborhood--THANKS CAPPLEMAN! That's really all I want. My life would be complete with a Trader Joe's. Perhaps a Trader Joe's/Microbrewery/Chipotle combo and until I get that Cappleman is a complete failure. It's all about ME!

Think of Uptown folks as a big puzzle where the borders always stay the same, but the pieces and how they fit together are always changing. People move in, people move out, stores come, stores go, but in the long run you hope for incremental progress. This is progress. It's not a giant step, but I don't think it's a small one. :Put one foot in front of the other and join the moving conga line of Uptown improvement.

Personally I'd prefer a nice midrise there, but this will be a nice addition to the hood.

    1. I checked with an expert on all things clothing related and retail, my 15 year old niece, and she is NOT impressed with Ross. She described it as a dollar store plus with a larger selection. Then again she likes visiting Lakeview and Uptown for the thrift stores so what does she know?

  2. Hope they hide the parking lot away from the street. Kind of looks that way from the pictures.

  3. I look at that all the time doing cardio at World Gym - this would be nice, but as said above, a Trader Joes would be better :)

  4. I'm so glad that they are not trying to squeeze in another super dense highrise on that site.

    1. I noticed that the parking is proposed for the ground floor of the existing building--NOT the existing parking lot. There's still plenty of room for a 30-story residential tower on the existing parking lot!

  5. Does anyone knows where can I apply for this new store when its ready?
