Snow Update From Ald. Pawar

"As you know, Chicago experienced the fifth worst snow storm in our city's history with over 19 inches of total accumulation. The Department of Streets and Sanitation deployed their entire fleet (350) of snow removal vehicles to clear streets. Plows have been working non-stop since Saturday night to clear arterials - through this morning when the snow finally stopped falling. Arterials are now clear, and plows began to plow side streets around 8am.

It will take time before the side streets are passable for the average vehicle, and we will continue working until all of our roadways are passable.  Please consider walking or using public transit if you must travel today. Your patience as we continue clearing snow from roadways is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all the residents and business owners who have gotten out to clear sidewalks and alleys. If you haven't cleared your sidewalk yet, please do so as soon as possible.  Please check on your neighbors, especially seniors and people with disabilities. It is important that we look after each other as we continue digging out from this storm.

I also want to thank the men and women at Streets and Sanitation and all the other operational city departments who have been working round-the-clock to clear the streets."
