Alderman Cappleman's Statement On Last Night's Leland Incident

Via Ald. Cappleman's website:
"I am working with the police and community members to find out more on what happened last night on Leland.  I want to thank the neighbors that called 911 immediately to alert the police. Anyone with property damage please contact the police immediately. Anyone with information please contact the police and my office. I’ve requested more police be in the area tonight in case of another incident. Do not hesitate to call 911 if you see anything suspicious."

Update: It now appears, according to the Alderman, that a birthday party held at Chase Park with close to 50 kids/teens was the source of the mob.

Media coverage of the incident:

  1. My first question is "did they have permission to hold a birthday party at Chase?" (much like the incident at Montrose) My second thought was, without names and video, it's a moot incident.

    1. Moot incident? Tell that to the people who had their cars damaged.

  2. How sad for all the people that had their cars damaged, but once again our Alderman is so far removed from reality. Additional police presence after an incident like this isn't going to do squat. Where was his office when this was going on? Maybe let the police charge the host of the party for all the damage

    1. See Nick, you got to post here AND on Facebook. We aren't so bad.

Lest we forget that this huge birthday party was held at Chase Park in Alderman Pawar's 47th ward and then chaos ensued down Leland when it was over. Where was his office? He has been getting "passes" on things directly affecting Uptown that he has had a hand in lately. SRO Ordinance, anyone? How many SROs are in the 47th ward? How many new ones will BE BUILT in the 47th ward? Inquiring minds want to know.

    2. These were Cappleman's residents, not Pawar's. After the party at Chase, they returned to Cappleman's ward, not Pawar's. They did all of their damage in Cappeman's ward, not Pawar's. While they were under Pawar's purview, they were well behaved and caused no problems, if you want to get picky about the Alderman's responsibilities.

  3. There was apparently another riot lest night near the Target and Truman College? This time with 13 arrests! Holy crap!

  4. Hmmmm. Eighties pop culture reference in the ID. Fascination with crime "truther" blogs. Pithy statement. Obsession with Uptown. If you only loved Jesus I'd say you were Paulus, but you don't so.............
