Man Shot In Parked Car in Sheridan Park, Dies From Injuries

Last night a little after midnight (12:21am, to be precise), we heard nine shots fired and called 911.  No one wrote about it to the Hotmail account or on Facebook, so we figured it was firecrackers or that no one was hit.

Woke up to find news of a murder.  A reader says, "2 people shot in front of the Section 8 [building] on Malden/Montrose.  From the sound of it the guy died & the girl is in critical.  Police have the street closed off & have evidence markers all over the street."

According to media reports, Kezon* Lamb, 19, of Alsip, his brother, and a date were parked on the 4400 block of Malden, waiting for another woman to come to their car, when someone approached and shot Mr. Lamb multiple times.  He managed to drive away from the scene, west on Montrose to Paulina, where they flagged down a police officer.  Mr. Lamb and the woman were taken to Illinois Masonic, where he was pronounced dead at 1:05am and she was treated for cuts from metal and glass.

The Tribune reports:  "The Malibu sat in the middle of Montrose and Paulina with at least seven bullet holes in its front and rear driver's side windows. Officers cordoned off the scene at Montrose and Malden and walked through a small garden to look for bullet casings.  No one was in custody."

A very sad night.  Our thoughts are with Mr. Lamb's family and friends today.

* The mainstream media are reporting the victim's name as Kezon Lamb.  The Crime in Wrigleyville & Boystown blog reports that his name is Kevon Lamb and that their information is drawn from his driver's license.  There are social media accounts for Kevon, none for Kezon.
