Dominick's To Open in Late February/Early March As Mariano's

As Mariano's takes over the 11 Dominick's stores it has purchased in the Chicago area, the Uptown/ Edgewater store will be among the first to reopen under the new name.

According to a story in the Tribune, here's the tentative transition schedule for the first five stores, including the one at 5201 N Sheridan:
  • December 28th:  Grocery sales will stop.  Roundy's/Mariano's will take over the pharmacy operations immediately.  Safeway/Dominick's will clean up the grocery portion of the stores so they can be delivered bright and shiny to the new owners.
  • January 25th:  Roundy's/Mariano's will take possession of the stores, and will do whatever remodeling is necessary, as well as restocking.  That should take 30-45 days.
  • Sometime between February 24th and March 11th:  Mariano's will open its doors.
