Arrest Number 397, and Counting

How much time, money and effort have been spent trying to keep Shermain Miles from committing crimes in Uptown and Edgewater?  Adding up her court time, arrest time, rehab time, and prison time, it's gotta be in the millions of dollars and thousands of man-hours.

Out of an intensive rehab prison stint on November 18th and sent to a Humboldt Park halfway house, she swore to stop hanging with her old companions, to stay away from the North Side and to continue taking steps to continue her sobriety.

And yet, according to the Sun-Times, "The woman who has racked up a near-record 396 arrests picked up one more this week when she was hauled off an Edgewater street for a host of alleged offenses, including misdemeanor battery, theft, reckless conduct and drinking in public."

  2. She was arrested at Winthrop and Bryn Mawr? You don't say. I mean, that intersection and most of Winthrop on down to Berwyn is essentially an open air drug market/unchecked free for all. I'm SO glad I moved out of that area.

    1. I work at Winthrop and Bryn Mawr and there are police officers stationed every single day there. Definitely not a free for all neighborhood. There are some panhandlers asking for money though.

  3. She needs to hit some AA meetings as hard as she hits in the street. This women may hold the record for "drinking on a public way" tickets. I'm sure the cops recognized her right away. Bryn Mawr off the Red Line is total chaos.
