Big excitement on Lake Shore Drive at Montrose on Friday afternoon. A car stopped suddenly in front of the 147 bus, which careened onto the grass median on the right and knocked over a light pole. Reader Bill Biederman was there when it happened and sent in these photos. Nine people were taken to the hospital, but the
Sun-Times reports that they are all in good condition.
Sounds like the CTA busdriver faced a tough choice: either swerve onto the grass and risk slight injury to a few people- or hit a car that stopped suddenly in front of him at a moderately high speed and do GRAVE injury to the occupants of that car. Glad I wasn't the busdriver.
