I am honestly shocked that liquor stores are featured in almost every single one of the 'old' photos? THanks God for more control of the liquor licenses and the ability for regular citizens to vote precints dry. I like a drink like the next person, but this makes Uptown look like a town in the Wild West (which I understand it was back then...)
Here, at least, is one building I'm not sorry was torn down. The garden really is an improvement, and while the high rise is not gorgeous, its nowhere near being the ugliest modern building I ever saw.
