Look Out Below (Particularly At Argyle)

A word of warning for those crossing under the Argyle L today.  A reader found out the hard way:  "CAUTION!! I just walked under the Argyle bridge and got paint splattered on my brand new $300 winter coat! There were no signs indicating a danger. And I didn't really notice the painters until I walked under the bridge. These sidewalks need to be blocked off while they are painting! I will be complaining to the CTA. Signed, A sad, paint-splattered neighbor"

  1. Wow so the scissor jack they were in that was blocking the sidewalk and the three public workers along with the paint compressor didn't give you any clue whatsoever that they might be painting?

  2. I was thinking the same thing, Jorge. If that photo was taken to bolster that persons complaint, good luck. I see three bright colored safety vests, an orange/white striped barricade with a light and everyone looking UP at the painter.

Could this pedestrian have been distracted with a cell phone and not paying attention to their surroundings? That seems like a more likely scenario to me. Seems like everyone always wants to blame someone else for everything these days!

  3. I dunno.....I know that I was splashed with paint in a new winter coat I'd be hacked!
That said, I usually am looking at the ground under these viaducts, dodging the pigeon poop patterns.

  4. I can see the merit of the complaint but you have to be aware of your surroundings and this one seems to be pretty obvious.

  5. Why are they painting in the winter?
