The architecture history blog, DesignSlinger, has an article on Bridgeview Bank, fka Uptown Bank, fka Sheridan Trust & Savings. You know, that beautiful building at Lawrence and Broadway that Johnny Depp robbed in Public Enemies.
The article features gorgeous photos (including the one above) and informative text. You can read it here. We are so lucky to have it here, still, and also lucky that it has owners who are restoring it so future generations can marvel at it as well.
Excellent article! The bank has a wonderful photo gallery win the hallway that comes from the parking lot entrance in back. Well worth viewing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this! It's a stunning building. Alone the hardware on the doors & the pendant lights on 'ordinary' floors show the quality of the original fittings.
ReplyDeleteIt's not only the inside of the building that's special. Higher floors offer fascinating unobstructed views in all directions. The lake with the huge waves in the near distance the other day was power manifest.
Bonus: a great way to appreciate how well-suited many existing Uptown roofs are for solar energy generation.
